Exhibition objects by Marcel Breuer, Mies van der Rohe, Christian Dell and other important artists of the Bauhaus school, which was formed in 1919, give a representative overview of developments in international design, ranging from Functionalism to Pop Art, the Memphis group and the most recent design products.
he creative variety of shapes and materials that have been used since the 1950s is demonstrated by our extensive chair collection, which includes classics by Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Charles and Ray Eames and Vico Magristretti, as well as Egon Eiermann, who taught at the University of Karlsruhe for many years. This section displays examples of contemporary design, namely chairs by Jasper Morrison, Fernando and Umberto Campana as well as Konstantin Grcic.
